Gateway Gus saysDeprecate gracefully: announce, warn via headers, give a sunset date, then remove.
Removing something abruptly breaks clients. Instead: document the deprecation, send a Deprecation and Sunset header (and warnings in responses), give a generous migration window with a clear replacement, monitor who's still using it, and only then remove. Communication is the whole job — the goal is zero surprised clients on removal day.
