Tagg the Builder saysThe <head> holds everything about the page that is not shown: charset, viewport, title, links, and meta tags.
The head is the page's control panel. Beyond <title>, it carries <meta charset> (encoding), the viewport meta (mobile sizing), <link> tags (stylesheets, icons), and <meta name="description"> (search snippet).
Order matters a little: put charset first so the browser decodes the rest correctly. Nothing in the head paints to the page — it configures how the body is interpreted and presented.
Power-ups you unlock
<head> configures the page; it renders nothing visible
charset first, then viewport, then title and links
meta description feeds the search-result snippet
<link> loads stylesheets and icons
The Unclosed Tag attacks — common mistakes
Putting visible content in the head
Missing the viewport meta → tiny, zoomed-out mobile layout
Charset declared late, after characters were already decoded wrong
Boss battleAdd a <meta name="description"> and a viewport meta to the head, then a <link rel="icon">. None of it shows on the page — that is the point.
