OMNI saysR0, the zeroth rule: the system is async by default — never block, coordinate through signals.
Before the nine rules comes R0: assume an asynchronous system. Cells don't block waiting on each other; they emit signals and continue. Coordination happens through messages (packets), convergence (quorum), hormones (modulation), and memory — never through global locks. Designing async-first avoids the deadlocks and hidden coupling that monoliths accumulate. It's the foundational stance everything else assumes.
Power-ups you unlock
Async by default — never block
Coordinate via signals, not locks
Quorum/hormones/memory, not global state
The foundational stance (R0)
The Silent Failure attacks — common mistakes
Blocking waits between cells
Global locks for coordination
Assuming synchronous ordering
Boss battleExplain how cells coordinate without blocking on each other.
